International Symposium
"140 Years of Thai-Italian Relations"

On the occasion of 140 years of Thai-Italian Relations, the Italian Section, Department of Western Languages, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the International Institute for Advanced Asian Studies (CESMEO, Turin), The Italian Embassy in Bangkok and The Royal Thai Embassy in Rome, is organizing an International Symposium on June 18th – 19th, 2009 at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center.
The key objectives of this International Symposium are to broaden perspectives and offer new ideas to students, lecturers, researchers and those who are interested in art and culture, as well as in Italian studies, Italian language and literature. Through the symposium, academics, researchers, students and the public will have the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas. The International Symposium also reflects the long history of close ties between the two countries, Thailand and Italy.
FOUR CLUSTERS IN THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
The International Symposium will be organized into four clusters, representing four different areas of interests:

Cultural Perspective in Italian Cinema
•
A Comparative Dimension in Italian Language and Literature
•
Multi-Dimension in Contemporary Times
CALL FOR PAPERS
Papers are invited on the proposed conference topics below. Interested authors please note the following requirements.
Proposed Topics
Topics to be discussed in the proceedings include those related to perspectives of Italian language and literature; art and culture. These topics will be categorized under the four clusters below and presented in the International Symposium:

A Comparative Dimension in Italian Language and Literature

Multi-Dimension in Contemporary Times
Abstracts
Authors should submit an abstract of no more than 300 words, typewritten in English. This abstract should provide sufficient information to allow assessment of the scope and the contents of the paper.
The abstract should be sent to the Organizing Committee via e-mail: intersymposium.bkk@gmail.com by May 22nd, 2009.
Full papers
Required full papers are accepted in Italian or English of no more than 10 pages long. They will be published as proceedings in your original submitted language.
Authors are responsible for the content of each article published in the proceedings. The Organizing Committee does not assume any responsibility for the content.
The Organizing Committee reserves for itself, however, the right to review papers before publishing them. Any content adverse to the common sense of good taste or clearly offensive towards persons or institutions will not be tolerated.

For all documents submitted, please adhere to the following requirements to facilitate the review process:
Typewritten using Microsoft Word (.doc)
Line spacing: 1.5 Lines
Text: Times New Roman 12
Footnotes: Times New Roman 10
Footnotes, progressively numbered (1, 2, 3…), should be placed at the bottom of the page. Footnotes exponents should precede punctuation. The bibliographical references should be placed in footnotes.
